Cleaning

Today I am cleaning and trying to get my home in some type of order before the new year and time to go back to work.

Happy New Year to everyone

After Christmas deals = gifts

A few gifts for next Christmas
Well I don't normally buy gifts for Christmas until November and most after Thanksgiving. When I saw these, I decided to pick some up. I really loved the colors and they feel so good. I bought white / cream for my sister-n-laws, I also bought two chocolate ones and one red one.

A closer look at the design.
Wow! I am so excited to think that I already have some of my Christmas shopping started. These were regular $18.00 on sale for $9.00. I ended up buying 10 of these spending $90.00. As I said I don't normally buy gifts until November but saving almost $100.00 I felt it was to good to pass up, and now I have 10 gifts.

Year in review

I really just started my blog this month so everything that is posted is my year in review. I am already working on some 2011 projects. I hope that you will come back and see some of the things I am doing. I finally got a new camera and I have been taking lots of pictures to share. I am very excited to begin this new year with some new projects. Thanks for stopping and come back soon.

I am linking to Savvy Southern Style. I have been reading this blog for a while and love it.

After Christmas sales - Ornaments

I thought I would share some of the after Christmas sales I found. Children wait all year for Christmas. . . . Well this adult waits all year (well not all year) for the day after Christmas sales. Each year I tell the hubs that I just want money for Christmas. Now we have been married forever and I only have one neck, two ears, and eight fingers so he's been running out of options for years so he is good with that. Ok with that being said this is what I got from him and my boys. Plus one more pair of earrings (guess I didn't get a picture of them) I will take a pic later.

OK everyone all together now... Aaaaaaaaaaaaa aint he sweet :-)

So after church we went to town and did a little after Christmas shopping. I love going and getting some great deals. We have been having lots of snow so I don't know if that kept folks in but even at around 2:00 there were lots of good deals to be found. Today I am posting about some of the ornaments I found. I will post pics of the other things I found later. I found all of these ornaments at Wal-Mart.

Ornaments

I love ornaments and if you saw my post here you will see I like to have different ornaments on my tree.
Peace ornament regular $1.00 on sale for $0.50
For a special arrival that will be here next Christmas, regular $5.00 on sale for $2.50
Green glass ball regular $2.00 on sale $1.00
Red glass ball regular $2.00 on sale $1.00
Acorn ornaments regular $2.00 each sale $1.00 each
Santa (love the old look) reg $2.00 sale $1.00

Total Cost: $8.00 with a savings of $8.00 and some really cute ornaments. These may end up on my tree next year or they may be given as gifts, either way it was better than spending $16.00.
I have some more things I bought, but I will post them later.
Do you go shopping after Christmas? I would love to hear about some great things you found.

Monkey Bread

Monkey bread yum! My boys enjoy this for breakfast or just to snack on. It isn't hard to make so it has my vote. My mom has made this before but I got this recipe from Pioneer Woman.
What you will need:
  • 3 - cans of biscuits (I used the store brand)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2-3 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • A bundt pan - mine is pampered chef
  • You will also need 1-gallon size ziplock bag
Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Open canned biscuits - we tried to get a picture as the can popped but no luck, o well!
Place biscuits on cutting board and cut into fourths.

Mix cinnamon and regular sugar in a gallon size zip lock bag.
Shake, shake, shake, to mix the two together.
Add the biscuits.
All of them
Don't they look good? They smell good too! Place these in the bundt pan.
Melt butter
Add brown sugar, melt and pour over biscuits
That's it, now place in 350 degree oven and bake for 30 to 40 minutes.
Ok now a word of warning, let this cool before you put it on a plate. Now after this has cooled then place a plate on top and do the flip. Wa La!
Pour yourself a nice glass of milk or cup of coffee and enjoy. Quick before everyone realizes they are ready.

Here is what was left after my two boys got finished with round one.

Winter Wonderland

Well I was dreaming of a white Christmas and I got one. I enjoy snow but once Christmas is over I start thinking of Spring. Now I know we just began Winter but snow is for Christmas and then it's time to begin thinking about flowers blooming.
This is what I woke up to this morning, it was still snowing. I live on top of a mountain with one road coming up and it is not cleared by the road department sooo this is what we drove through to get to church this morning. Lucky for me my husband is great at driving on snow, me not so much.

Once we got off the mountain the roads were a little better and it wasn't snowing much anymore.

We made it to our destination! When we got out of church it had started snowing off the mountain so I new it would be snowing even more on the mountain. We went out to eat and checked out some sales. (I'll post more on this later)
When we reached the bottom of the mountain this is what it looked like, snowing harder.
Here we go!

This is what it looked like when we started through the gate to our home. I know I said it was time for the snow to go but it is beautiful isn't it. The weather man is predicting weather in the 60's later this week. Wow that's TN weather.

Mary did you know?

I just have to share this video with you I saw at Kelly's Korner I hope you enjoy it.

A Social Network Christmas

WARNING!!! This post is addicting

CHRISTMAS CRACK
I found this recipe over at Dee's blog SeptembertheMarch - link is at the bottom of this post. i changed the recipe around for the flavors my family likes but stayed close to what she used. Here is a picture of the finished product and a list of the ingredients I used. Easy and delicious! Enjoy!!!!!
Popcorn - my husband is addicted to popcorn and literally eats it every night so I gave him the job of popping several batches. (Dee used store bought - whatever is best for you)
I used one package Almond Bark melted in the microwave following the directions on the package.
While I was waiting on the Almond Bark to melt I added the ingredients together. I used a turkey bag because it is what I had on hand, you will need something large. So I added half the popcorn, 3/4 box of corn chex - again this is something I had on hand and needed to use before the date went out.
I did use about four cups or more of peanuts because my family likes peanuts. You could leave this out or use your families favorite nut.

About 2-3 cups of crasins
Broken pretzel sticks

I really just eyeballed the ingredients until it looked like I wanted it. I started by adding some of the Almond Bark and coating all the ingredients I then added more popcorn and more of the other ingredients and the rest of the Almond Bark. I rolled it around in the bag until I thought everything was coated and then spread it out on parchment paper. After I spread it out into a semi-thin layer I added Toll House dark chocolate and mint chips. I didn't add these in the bag because I didn't want them to melt.

I then melted some red Wilton candy melts and drizzled over the top. I let this dry before sampling (sure we did). I used red because I had the green mint chips and this made it Christmasie (that's a word isn't it)

Please visit Dee at September the March
She has a video that you can watch. We have loved this and are making plans to make more using different ingredients. My son wants to try it with peanut butter chips. This will make great gifts, wrapped in a pretty package. I will take a pic when I get these ready, that is if they make it to the package stage.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you will try this.
